History of College
In the center of this unrivaled city, stands the prestigious institution of Govt. Post Graduate College No. I Abbottabad.It is a tower of learning which has been spreading its light for more than half of century.
This Collage was established in 1944 in a rented building on Mansehra Road.After independence, its site was shifted to the heart of the city in a raya School In 1954, the honorable chief Minister of N.W.F.P Khan Abdul Qayyum Khan laid foundation stone of the present magnificent building at Link Road. The building has large, spacious and ventilated classrooms, well equipped science Laboratories, air conditioned computers Labs and well maintained Libraries. It has vast playground for sports, Hostels. Masjid andCafeteria Buildings.In the beginning the college imparted education up to F.A/ F.Sc and B.A level .Later on B.Sc Classes commenced in 1955.

In 1965 , the college has M.Sc Physics and M.A Economics classes. In 1973 M.A English , Urdu and Chemistry And Math were started in 1986 M.Sc Botany and M.A Pol: Science were started in 1999. M.ScComputer Science was further added at postgraduate level .Now it is rightly called a mini University.The college was provide Quality Education to more than about three thousand student from 1st year to 6th year students in 24 common subjects in science and arts. Girls are admitted to only M.A/M.Sc Classes.
